FAQ's

How does the registration/payment work?

Please register your camper(s) by completing the online registration and sending in your $150 deposit/participant to reserve their spot. Please schedule the dates using the online Registration form as soon as you know what your family is interested in. This allows us to best plan our activities and counselor schedules in a timely manner.

Within a few days of sending in registration, you will receive an email confirming it was received, some 2025 specific before-your-adventures info, and a family invoice, which will be due in two parts, the first being 2 weeks before the start of the camp or your club. Alternative payment schedules and scholarships are available upon request. As always, we try to be as flexible as possible and will always do our best to adjust your camp/club dates or your family’s payment schedule upon request with open communication. Camper cancellations will be able to be made-up at a future date of the families choosing. Club cancellations (while rare but possible due to weather) will be completely refunded.

Please make payments by cash, check, or Venmo (@GusVuolle) to Gus Vuolle. Forms/Payment can be mailed to PO Box 300. Roosevelt, NJ, 08555 or emailed to gus@rooseveltadventures.com.

My family is not from Roosevelt, can we still attend?

Yes! Absolutely! We have many families who do not reside in Roosevelt or have students in Roosevelt Public School. We very much encourage families from our neighboring towns such as Millstone, Monroe, Hightstown, and East Windsor to come join us on our adventures.

What will the lessons and activities be like?

Pulling from our combination of active social-emotional and teambuilding activities, wilderness education, and summer camp experiences, we will be customizing each adventure experience to best fit your camper and your camper’s group’s personal interests and passions. Your camper will be outside, moving around, collaborating, competing, learning, and being challenged!

Where will the camp be everyday?
and how will I know where the drop off/pickup is?

We rotate our locations between the best places in and around Roosevelt, the Assunpink Wildlife Preserve, and occasionally Etra Park. Our weekly schedules are designed during the week beforehand, as we do our best to plan our adventures around the specific group that we will have with us on each day. Once your family has registered, for the weeks you are attending you will receive a weekly Locations and Links sheet. On this sheet there will be the pickup/dropoff addresses, descriptions, parking recommendations, as well as clickable google map links.

Does my camper need to be able to ride a bike?

No, absolutely not. While we do bike rides/activities 1-2 times per week, we are accustomed to having a few campers who are still learning. Sometimes, they bring alternative wheels of their choosing, such as scooters or roller blades. Also, we will have a number of "Biking skills days" during the first few weeks, where we will have an opportunity to work with your camper to improve their biking skills. In addition, we are available for a private after-camp session or two to make sure to find the time to work one-on-one with your camper. If you don't have a usable bike we have a number available to borrow for the summer!

Will my camper(s) be in a group? What will that group look like?

We will be able to have group sizes as we see fit. Most likely, we will group your camper(s) with other children in similar age ranges and activity interests. That being said, this will be largely determined by attendance and family preferences. If your camper has a specific friend or friends, you would like them to be grouped with, that can be arranged.

What is the cost?

Suggested pricing will be determined on a sliding scale with the days/week table or sessions/season listed on the registration form.  Family discounts include 15% off for a second camper and 30% any additional camper(s). SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE! NO CAMPER/FAMILY WILL EVER BE TURNED AWAY!

What happens if it rains? Or is very hot? Are there Weather Cancellations?

Given the outdoor nature of our camp, we will ask the families to be flexible in adverse weather situations, as we will have to cancel our sessions should it be thundering/lighting. However, we pride ourselves on using the teachable moments life gives us. During light drizzles, we usually like to use it as an on-the-fly learning experience. Campers will learn how to setup a rain shelter in a variety of ways, followed by a number of rain/water focused activities. During our hotter days, we will stay around or with water, and learn about conservation, hydration, and how to keep having fun!
